The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is one of the most modern hospitals in Europe with more than 80 highly specialized clinics and research institutes. The UKE represents a combination of state-of-the-art medical treatment, research, science and education with international reputation. As a leading university teaching hospital, it carries out medical research and many doctors, scientists and students visit to work in its clinics and laboratories. The Centre has approximately 1,400 hospital beds and each year it treats around 50,000 in-patients and 250,000 out-patients. The Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine department is a designated Centre of Excellence and specializes in fetal therapies and the management of pregnancies complicated by fetal growth restriction. The UKE is one of only a few centres in Europe to offer laser therapy to treat the underlying cause of twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) a common complication of monochorionic twin pregnancies.

The team consisting of 8 fetal medicine consultants and specialist midwives, has extensive experience with counselling, pre-procedure assessment and follow up of pregnant women who undergo fetal therapy. The department of Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine has 2400 deliveries per year, performs 100 fetal surgeries and >12000 fetal ultrasound per year and receives tertiary referrals from all over Germany and other European countries. Over 100 cases of fetal growth restriction are seen annually. The Centre for Radiology and Endoscopy has the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Department and Clinic where state of the art equipment is available. The Department of Neonatology has a large intensive care neonatal unit with >350 preterm neonates per year with experience in managing neonates affected by growth restriction. There are 12 level 3 cots.
